Before the pandemic, the team at Little Dog had a monthly kick-off meeting that was the highlight of each month. We would spend the first half of our day being informed about company developments, sharing our successes, and learning updated social media practices to help our clients grow. The second half of the day was spent enjoying lunch together and doing an activity to build our (already strong) bonds. We’ve enjoyed tie-dying together, scavenger hunts, and even a costume parade down the street where our offices are located! It was understandably difficult when COVID-19 made it hard for us to meet in person and celebrate what makes Little Dog a wonderful place to work.

In 2020, we found that we’re capable of working together as a team online and remain productive- AWESOME! We also realized how much we miss seeing each other regularly. As the United States starts to reopen and it’s safe to gather with friends and family again, we have taken every opportunity to make up for lost time! Our monthly kick-off meeting has become a monthly picnic. During the first week of every month, we have a companywide zoom call to cover all of the important updates to look for during the month. Then, we all gather to have fun in the sun later that week!

Little Dog picnics are a chance for everyone to make memories we’ll always remember! They are different every month, but always include these key components:

• A Potluck lunch. This is where our staff can show off their legendary culinary skills! No picnic is complete without Whitney’s oreo dirt!
• Little Dog babies! We have several young mothers on our staff who are superstars working from home while caring for their little ones. Everyone enjoys the opportunity to snuggle a baby or sneak treats to the older children.

• A team-building exercise. We might find ourselves building towers out of marshmallows and toothpicks, or trying to keep a beach ball from touching the ground! You never know what to expect, but it’s always fun and FUNNY to watch.
• A game or activity. In April, we had an Easter egg hunt. In July, our staff did water sports at a local state park. Other times, we gather for a good old-fashioned game of whiffle ball!

One element of our picnics that is never expected, but always appreciated is Little Dog swag. Big Dog Danielle does a great job of recognizing our staff’s hard work in creative ways. The team is decked out in Little Dog sweatshirts, water bottles, beach bags, and more!

It’s safe to say we’ve overcome many hardships in the last year and a half, but it has helped us understand just how lucky we are to have each other!
